Cedar STK Box Beams
Hewn’s Cedar Box Beams are made from the same real Cedar that we use in our wood siding products. Our beams provide all of the characteristics of a solid wood beam, at a fraction of the weight. We don’t use thin veneers or cast polyurethane substitutions. These beams are a real-wood product.Â
All of our products are textured by hand, guaranteeing that no two pieces of wood will look identical. Every beam we craft is unique, and our inspiration is drawn from the wood itself. In addition to our standard color and texture options, we also offer custom finishes, unfinished/raw box beams, and paint-grade options.

Lengths & Widths
One piece Cedar box beam lengths are available from 4’ to 15’6″. For lengths longer than 15’6″, you can choose one of our joint options. All of our box beams are completely customizable to the specifications of your project. For Northwestern Spruce and Cedar, we offer standard widths from 3″ to 10¾″, and extended widths (requiring a glue-up) from 10⅞″ to 22″. We also offer custom color matching and custom color formulations to ensure that our product is perfect for your installations.
End Caps
Our optional end caps are offered in two variants: Standard Grain and End Grain. Our Standard Grain features the same texture and finish found on the face of our beams. Our End Grain features a real wood cross-section, with visible tree rings.
Straps & Joint Options
For Cedar beam lengths longer than 15’6″, you can choose one of our joint options shown below. We also offer solid metal beam straps, in both a smooth and hammered texture, to accompany your chosen joint option. All straps are made-to-order to your specific dimensions, and are individually shaped for every beam.
Beam joints are not grain-matched. They are not designed to be invisible to the eye.

Trusted for Centuries
Cedar has a long history of being used as a building material for houses, ships, religious structures, and objects of importance, spanning from ancient times to the modern day. The Western Red Cedar that Hewn exclusively uses is sourced from regions in and around the Pacific Northwest, where cedar has long been trusted for its stability against the elements, and its protection against mold and mildew.
This proven track-record, combined with Hewn’s unique and proprietary finishes, results in a product that is unmatched and highly sought-after in the industry. Â
Custom Options
Hewn’s Cedar Box Beams can be customized to fit the individual needs and specifications of your particular project. Our finely skilled craftsmen can modify nearly any part of our in-house process to create a material designed according to your specifications, and our color technicians can match any shade or tone provided to us as part of our custom sampling process.Â
The Cedar Advantage
Hewn sources all of our Cedar from North American sources, with a focus on sustainability and consistent quality. It is a strong and durable wood species that can add warmth and character to any space. Our product can easily withstand everyday wear and tear, and is designed with longevity in mind.

The latest addition to our Hewn texture line-up, unlike anything on the market.
Our woodworkers and skilled artists here at Hewn constantly push the limits of what is possible to create out of new, sustainably sourced wood material. Our latest textural product offering, Shipwreck, continues this legacy by combining our fine attention to detail with our unmatched ability to craft exquisite lightweight box beams that look like solid timbers from any distance.
Shipwreck is the most textured finish option that we have ever offered. This texture combines the cracks and nail holes of our Distressed texture option, with a heavy Hand Hewn look that goes beyond what we have previously offered on any wood species. The depth of this texture is unmatched as well, featuring not just notch marks, but actual dimensional variance on the outside surface of the wood.
Inspiration
Our inspiration for Shipwreck comes from the finely crafted wood sailing vessels of yesteryear, many of which have met their demise in the deep depths on bottom of the ocean.
While salvage operations may be out of reach, Shipwreck allows you to tap into this seafaring legacy for your own home or commercial space. Whether your design is nautical in nature, or modern with a hint of rustic charm, our Shipwreck box beams can be incorporated into your space with ease, and fully customized to fit your needs.
