Name
When being referred to as a company, Hewn should always be referenced as the singular word “Hewn” (pronounced hyoon). Some older documents may refer to the name as “Hewn Elements”, but as of 2020, we require the shortened “Hewn” to be used for all marketing and references.
Hewn Elements LLC remains the legal entity that oversees Hewn.
Logos
Below you will find assets and instructions for use of Hewn’s current logos. These are the only official logos for Hewn,
Hewn’s Standard Logo is designed to be used in situations where Hewn’s branding should be front-and-center, and in scenarios where a smaller, simpler design is more appropriate. Examples include headers and footers of documents, landing pages, etc. The logo should always be rendered in a single color, and may be inverted to a white-on-black appearance when appropriate.

Hewn’s Circle Logo is designed to convey more information to the viewer in scenarios where placement is limited to a singular asset. It should only be used in scenarios where it can be rendered large enough for all of the text to be legible (ideally with the “Made in the USA” and “hewn.com” text rendering no smaller than a 10 pt equivalent). The logo should always be rendered in a single color, and may be inverted to a white-on-black appearance when appropriate.

Typography
Hewn’s standard typography is a mixture between Lora, Raleway, and Inter. Substitutions are acceptable for both Lora and Inter, when the correct font is unavailable, as long as the font matches the aesthetic intention of the Lora and Inter serif/sans-serif pairing.
Acceptable substitutions for Lora include Libre Baskerville and Montserrat, both of which have been used for Hewn materials in the past.
Acceptable substitutions for Inter include Open Sans, Source Sans Pro, and Roboto.
